Companion Planting
Companion planting is growing certain plants next to each other so they help each other grow better.
Think of it this way
Some herbs and vegetables grow better when placed in the same container. A pot of basil sits next to a tomato plant, and the basil keeps pests away from the tomato. The tomato grows tall and shades the basil from harsh sun. Each plant gives the other something it needs.
Explaining companion planting by grade level
Some plants grow better when they are near other plants. Tomato plants like to be near corn. Onion plants can keep bad bugs away. You can test which plants help each other.
