Concentration Gradient
Concentration gradient is the difference in how much of something is dissolved on each side of a barrier.
Think of it this way
Salt dissolves in water on one side of a thin cloth. Plain water sits on the other side. The salt moves through the cloth from the crowded side to the empty side. It keeps moving until both sides match.
Explaining concentration gradient by grade level
Put an egg with no shell into salty water. The egg side has less salt. The water side has more salt. Water moves toward the saltier side to even things out.
