DNA Extraction
DNA Extraction is the process of pulling DNA out of cells so it can be studied.
Think of it this way
Cells are like grapes sealed inside a plastic bag. To get to the juice inside, you crush the bag to break open the grapes. The juice then floats up through the liquid and collects in one layer you can see. That layer of juice is like the DNA — pulled out and separated from the rest.
Explaining dna extraction by grade level
Every living thing has tiny bits called DNA inside its cells. DNA is like a set of plans that tells your body how to grow. To get DNA out, you break open the cells. Then you use soap and salt to free the DNA. It clumps up so you can see it.
