Fiber Optics
Fiber Optics is the use of thin glass or plastic threads to send light from one place to far away.
Think of it this way
A garden hose carries water from the tap to the garden. Fiber optic cables work the same way, but they carry light instead of water. The light stays inside the thin glass thread, bouncing off the walls as it travels. It arrives at the far end, just like water comes out the other side of the hose.
Explaining fiber optics by grade level
Light can travel through a thin, clear tube. The tube bends, and the light bends with it. The light bounces inside and keeps going. This is how we send notes with light.
