Flow Rate
Flow rate is how much liquid moves through a pipe or tube in a set amount of time.
Think of it this way
Water flows from a faucet into a bowl. In one minute, a wide-open faucet fills the bowl. A barely-open faucet only fills it halfway. Flow rate is how much water lands in the bowl each minute.
Explaining flow rate by grade level
Think of water flowing through a tube to feed plants. If you squeeze the tube, less water comes out each second. If you open it wide, more water comes out. Flow rate is how fast or slow that water moves through.
