Geothermal Energy
Geothermal energy is heat from deep inside the Earth that people use to make power.
Think of it this way
A pot of water sits on a stove burner. Heat from the burner travels up through the metal pot and into the water. The Earth works the same way. Hot rock deep below the ground heats water above it. That hot water or steam can rise up and spin a turbine to make power.
Explaining geothermal energy by grade level
The ground deep below your feet is very hot. That heat can boil water into steam. Steam pushes a wheel that spins and makes power. A model steam wheel shows how this works.
