Hearing Range
Hearing Range is the span of sounds, from low to high, that an animal can detect.
Think of it this way
A row of bowls sits on the counter, each one a different size. Tap the smallest bowl and it rings with a high, sharp note. Tap the largest and it hums with a deep, low tone. Each animal's ear works the same way, picking up only the sounds that fall within its range.
Explaining hearing range by grade level
Dogs can hear sounds that people can not hear at all. A dog whistle makes a very high sound, but only the dog reacts. As dogs get older, they may stop hearing some of those high sounds. Their ears wear out over time, just like ours do.
