Identical Twins
Identical Twins is when two people grow from the same egg and share the same DNA.
Think of it this way
One bowl of cookie dough gets split into two equal halves. Both halves hold the exact same mix in the same amounts. Identical twins work the same way — one fertilized egg splits into two, giving each person the same DNA. The two halves started as one, so their "recipe" is the same.
Explaining identical twins by grade level
Some twins look so alike that even their parents mix them up. But press their fingers in ink and look close. Each twin has different swirls and lines. They share a body plan, but fingerprints are their own.
