Iron Deficiency
Iron Deficiency is when your body does not have enough iron to keep your blood strong and healthy.
Think of it this way
A row of trays sits on the kitchen counter. Each one carries a bowl of soup to the table. When half the trays are gone, half the table gets no food. Too few trays means some spots stay empty and cold.
Explaining iron deficiency by grade level
Your blood needs iron to carry air all through your body. Think of iron like fuel for your blood cells. When a runner does not eat enough iron, she feels tired and slow. Her legs feel heavy and she can not run as far.
