Noise Pollution
Noise Pollution is unwanted loud sound that can harm hearing and make it hard to focus.
Think of it this way
When someone runs a blender near you in the kitchen, the loud sound fills the room and drowns out other sounds. You can't hear someone speak to you, and it's hard to think. That's noise pollution. Too much sound in a space can hurt your ears and block your ability to focus.
Explaining noise pollution by grade level
Some sounds are so loud they can hurt your ears. A plane taking off makes a very big, deep roar. If you stand too close, you must cover your ears. Loud sounds like this over time can harm how well you hear.
