Oddball Effect
Oddball Effect is when something rare or odd in a pattern feels like it lasts longer than it really does.
Think of it this way
You pour ten beans into a bowl, one at a time. Nine are plain white. The last one is bright red. Your brain holds onto that odd one. It feels like it fell slower, but every bean dropped at the same speed.
Explaining oddball effect by grade level
Think about seeing the same shape flash on a screen over and over. Then one time, a new shape pops up. That new shape feels like it stays on screen longer, even when it does not. Your brain pays extra care to new things, and that tricks your sense of time.
