Plant Conditioning and Behavior
Plant Conditioning and Behavior is the study of how plants react to touch, light, or signals over time.
Think of it this way
A potted herb on a kitchen counter leans toward the window over a few days. Turn the pot around, and the stems slowly bend back toward the light. Block the window with a towel, and the herb stops leaning and grows straight up. The plant changed how it grew based on signals around it.
Explaining plant conditioning and behavior by grade level
Some plants move when you touch them. The Mimosa plant folds its leaves right away if you poke them. But plants do not learn the way animals do. If you touch the same leaf many times, the plant still folds every time.
