Polymer
Polymer is a long chain made when small parts link up to form a strong, flexible material.
Think of it this way
A paper clip chain shows how polymers form. Each paper clip is a small unit called a monomer. You link clip after clip to make a long, flexible chain. The full chain is the polymer, and it gets stronger as more clips join.
Explaining polymer by grade level
Think about a coat of clear paint on a car. That smooth coat is made of tiny pieces hooked end to end, like beads on a string. The long chain bends but does not break. That is why it keeps rain and dirt off the paint.
