Solar Wind

Solar Wind is a stream of tiny bits shot out from the Sun that can shake Earth's magnetic field.

Think of it this way

A fan blows a stream of tiny crumbs across a table. A round bowl sits in the path of the crumbs. The crumbs hit the bowl and swirl around it, pushed to the sides. The Sun works the same way — it shoots out small bits that flow past Earth and push on its magnetic field.

Explaining solar wind by grade level

The Sun sends out tiny bits that fly through space. These bits hit Earth and make bright lights near the poles. A tool called a compass can wiggle when lots of bits come at once. That is a solar storm.
