Ultraviolet Radiation Effects
Ultraviolet Radiation Effects is how invisible light from the sun can change the growth, color, and health of living things.
Think of it this way
Two slices of bread sit on a flat tray. One slice goes under a heat lamp; the other stays in the shade. After a few minutes, the lit slice turns dark and dry while the shaded one stays soft and pale. UV light from the sun does the same thing to living things, changing their color and health at the surface.
Explaining ultraviolet radiation effects by grade level
The sun sends out a kind of light you cannot see called UV light. This hidden light can change how plants and animals grow. In one test, butterflies raised under UV light grew to a different size and color. The light they got while growing changed how they turned out.
