Breakfast and Memory Recall

Medium
Breakfast and Memory Recall | Science Fair Projects | STEM Projects
Does eating breakfast every morning sharpen your memory? You select 12 people who regularly skip breakfast. First, you show them 25 random objects for two minutes. Then they write down every object they can remember. Next, you provide breakfast for all 12 participants every morning for 21 days. On the last day, you repeat the memory test with a new set of 25 objects. The results show that participants recalled more objects after three weeks of daily breakfast.

Hypothesis

The hypothesis is that students who eat their breakfast in the morning will exhibit better memory retention.

Method & Materials

You will separate objects into two groups, interview students, give them breakfast for 21 days, and then ask them to recall the objects they had seen.
You will need 12 students, 50 random objects, a stopwatch, 24 sheets of paper and pencils, and breakfast supplies.

Results

The results showed that the students were able to recall the names of more objects after taking their morning breakfast for 21 days.

Why do this project?

This science project is interesting because it shows how something as simple as eating breakfast can have a positive effect on a student's performance in school.

Also Consider

Consider repeating the experiment on a select group of students who do not have a habit of having their breakfast regularly. Also, consider repeating the experiment with participants of a different age group.
