Amino Acids
Amino acids are small molecules that link together in chains to build proteins in every living thing.
Think of it this way
Amino acids are like beads in a kitchen drawer. Each bead has a different shape and color. You string the beads on a cord to make a necklace. The order and type of beads you pick sets what the necklace looks like — and proteins work the same way.
Explaining amino acids by grade level
Your body is made of tiny parts called proteins. Proteins do all kinds of jobs, like helping you grow and move. Amino acids are even smaller pieces that snap together to make those proteins. Think of them like beads on a string, each one a different shape.
