Animal Navigation
Animal Navigation is how animals find their way across long distances to reach a goal.
Think of it this way
A flat tray holds three objects in a line: a tall jar, a short box, and a bowl. A marble starts at the jar and must reach the bowl. Each object marks where to turn or go straight. Animals find their way like this — they follow fixed points like the sun or a hill.
Explaining animal navigation by grade level
A homing pigeon flies far from home and still finds its way back. You can let it go in the morning or the evening. Either way, it returns to its own coop. The bird uses clues in the sky and land to guide its flight.
