Combinatorics
Combinatorics is the math of counting all the ways you can group or arrange things.
Think of it this way
You have three bowls and four fruit choices: apple, banana, orange, and grape. Each bowl holds one fruit. The number of ways to fill all three bowls, in order, is what combinatorics counts. Change the order and you get a different setup — combinatorics finds the total count of every such arrangement.
Explaining combinatorics by grade level
You have coins: pennies, nickels, dimes. How many ways can you pick two coins? You can try each pair. Counting every pair is what this math does. It helps you find all the choices.
