Endangered Species
Endangered Species is the study of animals and plants at risk of dying out forever.
Think of it this way
A cookie jar holds many kinds of cookies. Each type of cookie is like one species of animal or plant. When you keep eating one kind and never replace it, that type runs out. Once the jar is empty of that kind, you can never get it back.
Explaining endangered species by grade level
Some animals may die out if we do not help them. When a kind of animal has very few left, we call it at risk. People can help by learning about these animals. You can ask others what they know about animals at risk. Many people do not know which ones need help the most.
