Group Theory
Group theory is the study of how actions like moves in a game can be combined, reversed, and repeated in patterns.
Think of it this way
Turning a jar lid shows group theory in action. Turn it right to tighten. Turn it left to loosen. Turn it all the way around and it ends up where it started.
Explaining group theory by grade level
Think about a game where you take turns picking up sticks. Each move you make follows a rule. You can undo a move by putting sticks back. Some moves cancel each other out, and that makes a pattern.
