Hair Structure
Hair Structure is the layered design of each hair strand that gives it strength, color, and shape.
Think of it this way
A celery stalk cut crosswise shows the same layers as a strand of hair. The tough outer ring is like the cuticle — flat, tight pieces that guard the inside. The thick middle holds color and strength, just like the cortex. The soft, spongy center is the medulla — a loose core found in thick hair.
Explaining hair structure by grade level
Pull a single hair from a brush and hold it tight. It feels thin but strong. Each hair has layers, like a rope made of tiny threads. Dyes and heat can hurt those layers and make hair weak.
