Hygiene and Handwashing
Hygiene and Handwashing is the use of soap and water to wash germs off your hands and body.
Think of it this way
Soap works like a dish scrubber on a greasy pan. Germs stick to your skin the way grease clings to a bowl. Soap breaks that grip, so water can carry the germs away. The dirty water drains off, taking the germs with it.
Explaining hygiene and handwashing by grade level
Your hands pick up tiny germs all day long. You can not see them, but they are there. When you wash with soap, the soap grabs the germs and pulls them off your skin. The water then sends the germs down the drain.
