Levers
Levers is a simple machine where a bar rests on a turning point so a small push can lift something heavy.
Think of it this way
A seesaw in the park works just like a lever. One end goes up when the other goes down. The middle point is called the fulcrum. Move the fulcrum closer to the heavy side, and a small push on the long end lifts a big load with ease.
Explaining levers by grade level
Think about a seesaw. One side goes up when the other side goes down. Now picture a stick on a rock. You push down on one end and the other end lifts up. If you push far from the rock, you can lift heavy things with less effort.
