Number Sequences
Number sequences are lists of numbers that follow a pattern or rule you can find and use to predict what comes next.
Think of it this way
Stacking bowls on a shelf follows a clear rule. The first bowl sits alone, the second stack has two, the third has three. Each new stack adds one more bowl than the last. You can predict the next stack without counting — just follow the pattern.
Explaining number sequences by grade level
Think about counting by twos: 2, 4, 6, 8. You skip a number each time. The pattern helps you guess the next one. Number sequences all work like that — each number follows a rule.
