Plant Hormones
Plant hormones are signals inside a plant that tell stems, roots, and leaves when to grow.
Think of it this way
A kitchen fridge has sticky notes that each give a different order. One note says "grow taller" and gets moved to the top shelf. Another says "spread roots" and goes under the counter. Plant hormones are those notes — signals that travel and tell each part what to do.
Explaining plant hormones by grade level
When you cut a stem from a plant and put it in soil, new roots grow from the bottom. The plant makes tiny signals that travel down the stem. Those signals tell the cut end to start making roots. That is how one plant can become two.
