Protein Folding
Protein Folding is the process where a protein chain bends into a specific shape to work properly.
Think of it this way
A paper chain starts as a long, flat strip of linked squares. Each square can fold up, down, left, or right. When you fold the strip in a set pattern, it forms a box shape. That final box shape is the only form where the chain can do its job, like holding objects.
Explaining protein folding by grade level
Your body makes tiny chains. These chains fold up like origami. Each chain curls into its own shape. The shape matters a lot. If the shape is wrong, the chain cannot do its job. Folding happens very fast inside your cells.
