Vitamins
Vitamins are tiny nutrients in food that your body needs in small amounts to stay healthy and grow.
Think of it this way
A recipe needs flour, butter, sugar, and tiny pinches of salt and baking powder to rise right. The main items fill most of the bowl, but the small pinches matter just as much. Without them, the cake falls flat. Each pinch plays its own role that the big items cannot fill.
Explaining vitamins by grade level
Fruits like oranges hold special things your body needs but cannot make on its own. A ripe orange and a green orange do not have the same amount inside. As the fruit ripens and turns orange, it builds up more of these good things. That is why eating ripe fruit gives your body more of what it needs.
