Wave Interference
Wave interference is what happens when two waves meet and combine to grow stronger or cancel each other out.
Think of it this way
Drop a pebble on each side of a bowl of water. Each pebble sends out rings of ripples. Where two rings meet, the waves stack up and make a taller wave. Where a high point meets a low point, they cancel out and the water goes flat.
Explaining wave interference by grade level
When you toss two stones in a pond, the ripples meet. Where they crash together, the water gets taller. Where one goes up and one goes down, the water goes flat. Light and radio waves do the same thing.
