Does tape stick better to a dry surface or a slippery one? Different brands of tape use different adhesives. The surface underneath matters just as much. You press a strip of tape onto a flat surface and tie a string to it. The string hangs down with a paper clip at the end. You add metal washers to the clip one at a time until the tape pulls free. Then you weigh the washers to find how much force each tape held. You repeat this test with several brands of tape on different surfaces. The results show which tape grips the strongest and which surface holds it best.

Hypothesis

The hypothesis is that the tape will stick better to dryer surfaces and less slippery surfaces.

Method & Materials

You will test several types of tape by tying a piece of string to the tape and placing it onto a flat surface. You will then add washers to the clip until the tape is pulled up.
You will need several types of tape, a piece of string, a paper clip, and washers.

Results

The results showed that Tape A held the longest and was the strongest and most adhesive. It worked better than all of the other tapes chosen for the project.
