Soil Pollution happens when harmful substances like chemicals, waste, or pesticides get into the soil and can harm plants and animals. By studying soil pollution, we can find ways to prevent it and keep our environment healthy.

The purpose of this experiment was to see how detergent affects the growth of bush peas.

The information gained from this experiment could help farmers and gardeners understand how soapy wastewater affects their crops. It would also be useful to industries that produce or use large amounts of detergent or soap.   

What happens to a pea plant when you water it with soapy water? You grow three groups of bush peas under identical conditions. One group gets plain water. One gets water mixed with powder detergent. The third gets water mixed with liquid detergent.

You start the detergent treatments after the seedlings reach one centimeter tall. Each group receives the same amount of water on the same schedule for three weeks. At the end, you pull up every plant and weigh it on a balance.

The mass of each group shows whether detergent helped or harmed the peas. The results can help gardeners understand how soapy wastewater affects their crops.
